#13 Vila Market

The shopping district of Port Villa is really nothing much to write home about.  It is symbolic of the culture of the place, a mish mash of everything.  The Vila Market is around the centre of the main street, a stone throw from the harbour.  It is a see of colour in the midst of a dry and dusty shopping precinct.  Unlike the prior trip to Bali, the locals here are happy to let you go about your shopping, and they do not pester you to purchase anything.  The prices are excellent, and the products really fresh.  At this stage in our journey, we didn't stop and pick anything up.  However this could be linked to the meal that the pair of us had only just tucked away :-)

Not only do the locals bring their produce down to sell, there are also a collection of clothing and souvenirs to be found.  Maddison found a dolphin key ring that she instantly fell in love with.  Despite my skepticism at forking at $5 for the traditional piece of plastic, I would have to say that it provided many hours of entertainment, frolicking the the bubbles of the resort tub.

After a stimulating day of travels, we headed back to the resort to while the remaining hours away at the resort pool.  An opportunity for the youngster to make a few swimming companions, and for me to find another big person to talk to.  There was also a great moment of Maddison turning a chocolate Magnum into a chocolate goatee.  Regrettably the camera was not on hand to capture that moment.
