I wasn't really sure what to expect when walking off the plane. The cultural training had left me with an impression that complete chaos was going to be tame. But what actually hits you is the pollution, it creeps into the airport and you can smell it and taste it whilst standing in line for customs.
Thankfully for our travelling party, our organisation has gone to great lengths to care for us. So instead of battling people and rickshaws, our group is treated by quaint little hotel staff with signs.
Our BMW takes the bags, gives us some water and cool towels, pops up the shade screens for the windows, and drives us safely to the hotel. It all seems very civilised.
