After visiting the Taj Mahal, we took the opportunity to see a demonstration of the marble cutting. Of course the Government has been kind enough to run a commercial operation out of here, but regardless of the pushy sales tactics, it was great to see some of the art work. The statues are glorious.
It may be hard to imagine the scale of this little replica, but safe to say the display cabinet was taller than me, so I estimate the width to be 1.5 metres! The salesman was quick to say that it was not for sale. But in India, I doubt that to be the case.
It takes five months to make a rug, and that is not a very big one.
