Maddison has been learning about “the olden days” at school. This coming week there is a bush dance, and the children are to wear period costumes to suit the event. A trip to Spot Light this morning, and we navigated some horrid patterns to finally select something agreeable to all parties.
From there I traded my time for two hours of hard lawn mowing at my sister's house, in turn for the assembly of the outfit for Tuesday. The olden days are clearly on the youngsters mind as she lies in bed preparing the wind down from today. She has just yelled out “Mummy, in the olden days, did you sleep on a bed or on hay?”
I am only turning 40 this year, not 400!
